Assembling Your Invitations
This task can become overwhelming, but let us break it down for you to make it less stressful. Here are how most typical wedding invitations are assembled:
- First of all, your actual wedding invitation should be placed on the bottom of the stack. A good rule of thumb is to stack items from largest to smallest so the smallest printed item is on the top
- Second is the RSVP card, which should be tucked into the flap of the return envelope
- Next, if you are doing a traditional invitation, you will place everything into the inner envelope so that guests can read the invitation as they take it out.
- If you are not doing a traditional invitation, you can simply place the RSVP card and envelope in an outer envelope, and you’re all set!
-
Make Sure to Add a Stamp to the RSVP Envelope
You won’t want your guests to have to stamp their own RSVP card to send back to you! Make sure you get your reply in a timely manner by stamping the RSVP envelope for each guest.
-
Weigh Your Completed Invitation
Before sending out all of your invitations, it would be a good idea to mail a completed invitation to know exactly how much postage you will need on each invitation. This step may seem unnecessary, but the alternative could mean a bunch of returned invites at your doorstep.
-
Have your Invitations Hand-Processed
Most people don’t know that machines at mail centers can only process certain envelope shapes and sizes, so if your invitation envelopes do not fall within those measurements you could pay up to 20 cents more per invite. To avoid such nonsense make sure your envelopes are rectangular in shape and fall between the sizes of 3.5 inches by 5 inches and 6.125 inches by 11.5 inches.

Stamp and Mail
Now that you’ve taken the necessary steps to create and perfect your invitations it’s time to put a stamp on it and mail them out. Way to go, you did it! Now you can sit back and relax until your big day arrives.
