Pantone Studio: Where the Real World and Your Phone Collide
From print, to digital, to anything else your mind can conjure, it seems that businesses all over are reaching in every direction in an attempt to stay relevant in our ever-changing world. For companies that rely on the physical presence of a product or print, these constant digital changes can present their own unique set of challenges. One inspiration for us in particular is Pantone.
With the release of Pantone Studio, the color giant’s newest subscription based iOS app, Pantone allows its consumers to interact with colors around them in real life, via their smart phone. This is important for more than just the printing industry. More and more independent artists, students, designers and small businesses can now have the (digital) world of color at their fingertips.
A few of Pantone Studio’s features include a color dropper tool, links to the Adobe creative Cloud and palette suggestions based on any color you chose. This creative application could not have been made without a little help. Rokkan design firm teamed up with Pantone for the gig and we think their CEO, John Noe, put the idea behind it all best, “It’s moving from designing with color to designing because of color.”
